WMO SG Congratulates NiMet DG On EC Election

The director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Mansur Matazu has been congratulated by the secretary-general of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), Prof. Petteri Talaas on his recent election into the WMO’s executive council (EC).

Talaas expressed his congratulations to Matazu in a letter he personally signed and addressed to him. “I am pleased to extend our warmest congratulations to you on your election as a member of the Executive Council,” the letter stated, referring to the election held during the ongoing Nineteenth session of the World Meteorological Congress.

Matazu, who also serves as Nigeria’s permanent representative to the WMO, was elected to the executive council in recognition of his dedication and commitment to advancing the field of meteorology and benefiting humanity. His term will last for four years.

The executive council holds the second-highest authority within the WMO, responsible for crucial decision-making processes.
