The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has denied allegations of certificate fraud against its executive chairman, Dr. Muheeba Dankaka.

In response to recent claims circulating on social media platforms, the FCC clarified that Dankaka has not been arrested or detained by the Nigeria Police Force and the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

A press statement signed by the commission’s director PAC, Dr. Chuks Okoli revealed that the misinformation stems from a blackmail strategy employed by five aggrieved commissioners of the FCC. These commissioners, the statement contends, are determined to obstruct Dr. Muheeba at all costs.

The commission emphasised that when a petition is lodged against a public servant, it is standard procedure for the concerned agency, be it the EFCC or any other investigative body, to invite the accused for interrogation. Muheeba was invited to clarify the allegations and, contrary to the impression created, she was neither arrested nor detained.

Muheeba has asserted that her academic record, obtained from Nigerian institutions – specifically Bayero University, Kano and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – is open for scrutiny. The FCC urged the investigating authority to be allowed to conduct a thorough inquiry and present their findings and recommendations. The commission emphasised the importance of respecting due process rather than succumbing to the wishes of detractors attempting to influence the constituted authorities responsible for the investigation.
