The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has warned Nigerians against a fake website calling for application for recruitment, saying the agency has not advertised vacancies in any medium.

A statement signed by NITDA’s head, corporate affairs & external relations unit, Mrs Hadiza Umar, urged Nigerians to disregard the website, adding it is working to bring down the site, even as it assured of the agency’s determination to protect Nigerians from cyber threats.

The statement reads:

The attention of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has been drawn to a fake recruitment site purported to be from the agency circulating on the internet particularly on www.recruitmentbeam.com.ng, requesting for unsuspecting Nigerians to apply for job vacancies under the NITDA 2021-2022 recruitment exercise.

NITDA is hereby notifying the general public that the agency has not advertised vacancies in any medium and has not contracted any third party to act on its behalf in that regard.

While our computer emergency readiness and response team (CEERT) is working to bring the site down, we urge the general public to disregard such fake websites as they are false, misleading and aimed at defrauding innocent Nigerians.

As the Federal Government agency responsible for regulating and developing national IT policy in line with National Digital Economy Policy and Strategy, we are committed to fulfilling our mandate by securing Nigeria’s cyberspace and providing support in response to cyber security threats/incidents in the country.

Signed

Mrs Hadiza Umar, mnipr, m.apra, mcipr

Head, corporate affairs and external relations unit
