NASENI recently empowered 200 youths in Imo State with training in modern electrical installations and maintenance as part of this initiative.

Halilu stated that the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda inspired NASENI to provide comprehensive training to youths in Imo State. This training aimed to equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary for electrical installation and maintenance.

Halilu, speaking during the closing ceremony of the NASENI Skill Acquisition Training and Youth Empowerment programme, emphasised the significance of technical and vocational skills in the 21st century, especially in a developing country like Nigeria. He stated, “The economic opportunities are limitless for those who realize the value and commit themselves to learning and re-learning”.

He also highlighted the alignment of NASENI’s goals with Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, which focuses on various critical sectors, including job creation, economic growth and youth development.

Governor of Imo State, Sen. Hope Uzodinma praised Tinubu for prioritising critical issues like job-creation and youth empowerment during challenging economic times. He emphasised the importance of empowering youths with new skills to keep them relevant and productive.

Uzodinma expressed his gratitude to both Tinubu and NASENI for including Imo State’s citizens in the Skill Acquisition Training and Empowerment Programme. He emphasised the potential of this initiative to create wealth and pave the way for a viable economic future for the participating youths.

He also announced a cash donation of N100,000 to each participant, in addition to the N20,000 provided by NASENI for transportation. This financial support aims to assist them in launching their careers in modern electrical installation and maintenance.

The governor acknowledged that Imo State was unique, as it received empowerment for approximately 200 youths, while other states usually had 100 participants. He highlighted the importance of empowering youths in innovation and digital skills to enhance self-reliance.

In a related development, Halilu handed over NASENI ‘Save 80’ Efficient Cook Stoves to 300 vulnerable women in the state as a part of the initiative. He expressed his appreciation for Uzodinma’s support in making the programme a success.

The 200 trainees, selected from those already working in the field of electrical installation and maintenance, received a complete set of electrical tools upon completing their training. These tools will enable them to apply their new knowledge to install electrical systems in buildings and vehicles, identify and address electrical faults, and enhance their proficiency.

Halilu urged the beneficiaries to use their new skills diligently and productively. He emphasised the importance of creating economic opportunities for themselves and others and growing in their respective fields.

NASENI is committed to operating in alignment with Tinubu’s vision for new investments, jobs, skills, exports and industrialisation. The agency will support its efforts to transform Nigeria into a global hub for digital and technological innovation with a competent and capable workforce.
