The Federal Government is embarking on an ambitious mission to revitalise the steel sector as a means to drive economic growth and create substantial employment opportunities.
The Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu, recently met with heads of agencies and departments within the ministry to discuss the transformative potential of the steel industry.
Addressing the attendees, Audu expressed his confidence in the steel sector’s ability to usher in a new era of economic prosperity for Nigeria. He stated, “Nigeria’s abundant mineral resources hold the key to reshaping the nation’s economic landscape and extending the benefits of democracy to every Nigerian. By tapping into the latent potential of the steel sector and directing it towards profitable ventures, we can ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every citizen”.
Highlighting the significance of the steel sector in Nigeria’s industrial growth, the minister emphasised its potential to provide substantial job opportunities, especially for the youth. To achieve this, the government is committed to implementing a range of measures to attract reputable international investors. These efforts will be complemented by incentives and streamlined business procedures.
Reiterating President Bola Tinubu’s administration’s dedication, Audu emphasised that every Nigerian should benefit from the advantages of democracy. He stressed that democracy’s essence lies in its ability to elevate individual needs and aspirations, and the government is actively working to create an environment conducive to realising these benefits.
The minister further affirmed that as Nigeria positions itself as a major player in the global steel market, the transformative journey will reshape the nation’s economic trajectory. By fostering strategic alliances, facilitating investment inflow and cultivating a business-friendly atmosphere, the government envisions a future characterised by prosperity, progress and collective advancement.
