The management of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) said it carried out a two-day capacity-building session for its staff in Abuja to meet the need for effective communication in a rapidly changing world.

Declaring the training workshop facilitated by the Dan-Tesla Media Consult open at NASENI Solar Energy Limited (NSEL), Karshi, the NSEL managing director, Dr. Mahmud Jafar, noted that the world is changing drastically, adding imagery and personal stories help in effective communication which is critical to relaying products and services which the agency offers.

“Photography as an inevitable means by which information is disseminated plays a crucial role in this present dispensation. Hence its application and practice require professionalism to promote objectivity and accuracy. Photography is deployed in many fields of science, manufacturing (e.g photolithography) and business, as well as its more direct uses for art, film and video production, mass communication, amongst others,” he said.

Mahmud urged participants to take advantage of the opportunity the training provided, as this will broaden their horizons and spur them on.

He noted that the timing of this training would not have come at a better time, as information dissemination through photography has become a key component of storytelling and news reporting; thus, the need to redouble efforts in the training of staff. He went ahead to officially declare open the training programme which took place from January 5 to 6, 2022.

In his remarks, the lead resource person, Mr. Daniel Okoro, assured the agency of a transformation in the quality of photography reporting that will be deployed by NASENI and its institutes after the training.

A statement by the special assistant on social media to the NASENI executive vice chairman, Peter Ewu, said the climax of the event was a paper presentation titled “Practical approach to modern photography” which offered in-depth teaching into the theoretical and practical aspects of modern photography and its applications.
