A statement by the NNPC group general manager, group public affairs division, Garba Muhammad, said the incident was caused by road construction and rehabilitation activities in the area.

Muhammad assured the general public, especially those living within Anifowoshe area of Ikeja in Lagos State and environ that the situation has been brought under control.

According to the statement, preliminary findings indicated that at about 8.40 am, Wednesday, November 3, 2021, a pipeline gas leakage was reported around Anifowoshe, Ikeja, Lagos State. The pipeline is a 6-inch gas pipeline supplying gas to Mainland Power Ltd., near the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja.
