The Nigeria Postal Service (NIPOST), eGate and Visa have signed a tripartite partnership to facilitate digital financial services, issuing of payment cards and support financial inclusion in Nigeria.
The agreement was signed by the postmaster general of NIPOST, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, the CEO of eGate, Essam El-Sagheer and vice-president, Global Digital Partnership, Visa, Alex McCrea.
In his remarks, Adewusi revealed that NIPOST has a strategic plan to provide financial inclusion services as part of Nigeria’s digital transformation plan.
”Today we take this plan forward by signing with eGate, one of the leaders on digital transformation and our consultant who leads our digital transformation plan and, Visa, the world leader in digital payments,” he said.
In his comments, El-Sagheer said eGate has become one of the digital transformation leaders in Africa.
The agreement will enable NIPOST to provide digital financial services using Visa credit and prepaid cards to the unbanked customer to support financial inclusion, government e-service and no-cash society, to expand the acceptance of electronic payments where Visa will provide cards payments solutions for the success of this new form of technological cooperation to meet the ambitions and requirements of Nigeria’s citizens.
