NIMASA: Offodile Assumes Leadership As Jamoh Bows Out

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the outgoing director-general, Dr. Bashir Jamoh, has formally handed over the reins of the agency to the executive director of finance and administration, Hon. Chudi Offodile, as the new acting director-general of the agency.

The ceremony, marking the end of Jamoh’s tenure on March 10, 2024, took place at NIMASA Towers in Victoria Island.

During the handover, Jamoh expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for the privilege to serve as director-general, emphasising the importance of consolidating on the achievements of the past four years. He conveyed his appreciation to Allah and the government, acknowledging himself as a privileged Nigerian to have occupied this position and contributed to the maritime sector.

“While I am stepping down as the director-general today, I want to assure the staff of the agency that wherever I am, I will remain a part of this family; a place I have spent the active 30 years of my life,” said Jamoh.

He extended his thanks to the NIMASA staff for their cooperation and professionalism, urging them to continue their excellent work and collaborate with the new leadership.

Offodile, in response, expressed gratitude to Jamoh for his guidance during his four-year tenure as the executive director of finance and administration. He acknowledged Jamoh’s wealth of experience, stating that the industry will continue to seek his expertise.

“I want to express my gratitude to the outgoing DG for being a guide to me upon assumption of office as the executive director, finance & administration, four years ago. The industry will continue to call on you for your expertise,” said Offodile.

The handover ceremony adhered to the Federal Government Establishment Circular titled “End of Tenure Processes for Heads of Extra-Ministerial Departments, Director-Generals, Chief Executive Officers of Parastatals, Agencies, Commissions, and Government-Owned Companies and Succession Guideline,” issued on December 4, 2017. Offodile now assumes the leadership role at NIMASA, with expectations of continued progress and contributions to Nigeria’s maritime sector.
