The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has appointed Mrs. Olubusola Akande and Engr. Christopher Amakulo as directors, following the approval of its governing board.

Additionally, the board approved the promotion of 22 assistant directors to deputy directors, 86 chiefs to assistant directors and 400 other staff to their next grade levels. The promotion exercise, which took place during a meeting held in Lagos, is the fourth under the leadership of director-general Dr. Bashir Jamoh since he assumed office in March 2020.

Jamoh congratulated the promoted staff and noted the board’s commitment to boost staff morale through annual promotion exercises, which aim to ensure staff remain dedicated to the Agency’s ideals while helping management achieve its mandate. He also charged the staff to view their promotions as “a call to higher performance”.

The promotions and appointments demonstrate the agency’s efforts to recognise the contributions of its staff and motivate them to improve their performance.

NIMASA is responsible for regulating and promoting maritime activities in Nigeria and ensuring the safety of maritime operations.
