Nigeria, Iraq Partner On Security Infrastructure

The Nigerian government has expressed its readiness to partner with the Republic of Iraq in the fight against insecurity in both countries.

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola disclosed when he received the Ambassador and Head of Mission of the Republic of Iraq to Nigeria, Mr. Anwer Saeed, who paid him a courtesy visit in his office. 

Aregbesola assured the diplomat of Nigeria’s readiness to partner with Iraq in the area of cultural ties and sharing of intelligence in tackling insecurity in both countries.

Earlier in his speech, Saeed highlighted the historical relationship Nigeria and Iraq enjoyed in the past and requested that the minister does all in his power to ensure the sustenance of the ties.

The envoy added that the two countries can adopt a memorandum of understanding on bilateral relationship in the fight against insecurity, for the mutual benefits of the two countries.

A statement by the ministry’s deputy director, press and public relations, Afonja Ajibola listed some dignitaries in attendance as the director, citizenship and business, Mrs. Moremi-Soyinka Onijala, representing the permanent secretary of the ministry; Director, planning research and statistic (PRS), Mrs. Binuyo Abiodum.
