The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has resolved to revalidate its vision in a bid to enhance its operations for optimal success.
The board and management staff made this decision during a two-day retreat in Abuja, themed ‘Re-defining NIGCOMSAT Road Map for Exponential Growth’. The retreat’s goal was to align the company’s vision with the realities of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the challenges of volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity.
The board chairman, Arc. Yusuf Kazaure, who presided over the retreat, emphasised the need for the alignment of NIGCOMSAT’s culture and strategy with effective leadership practices to achieve its organisational vision. The retreat also highlighted the importance of incorporating the government-approved Performance Management System (PMS) into NIGCOMSAT’s human resource practices.
In his presentation titled ‘Roadmap to Excellence’, the managing director, Engr. Tukur Lawal outlined five strategic pillars – people development, operational backup, service delivery customer focus, and sustainability – the agency would pursue to tackle the multiple difficulties it faces. The sustainability charter, which provides a general statement of NIGCOMSAT’s commitment towards sustainable business practices, was also approved for implementation.
The retreat resolved that NIGCOMSAT should focus on improving customer experience, service delivery, meeting industry standards and internal processes such as the Automated Network Operations Management (ANOMIS). The retreat also emphasised the need to improve marketing outreach and branding of the company leveraging more on traditional and new media towards enhancing visibility and revenue increase.
Furthermore, the retreat underscored the need for NIGCOMSAT to reposition itself for exponential growth through team building and commitment from the management and staff of the organisation. With these resolutions, NIGCOMSAT Ltd is poised to achieve its organisational goals and objectives.Â
