The National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), an agency of the Federal Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, said it will engage stakeholders in the sector at the 2022 Global Science, Technology and Innovation Community Conference (G-STIC).

The conference billed to hold at NACETEM’s headquarters at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife from December 7 – 8, 2022, seeks to brainstorm on solving the energy crisis being witnessed in the nation and globally as one of the most essential undertakings of the 21st century.

A statement by NACETEM’s public relations officer, Isaac Oluyi said perfect solutions will be hard to come by, due not only to drastic differences in political and public support for sustainable energy throughout the world but the extensive knowledge required to address the many challenges associated with the global energy landscape.

“As a knowledge support institution that is constantly in search of lasting science, technology and innovation (STI) solutions to challenges in all sectors of the economy, NACETEM has decided to beam its searchlight on the energy sector at the 2022 G-STIC conference. Hence, the theme of the conference is ‘Science, Technology and Innovation: Pathways to Energy Sustainability in Nigeria’.

“This Nigerian version of the G-STIC is preparatory to the main event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in 2023. It will focus, among others, on knowledge and technologies crucial to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly issues such as renewable energy, circular economy, green environment, among others. The agency will connect policymakers, academics and practitioners at the conference to come up with market-ready technological solutions that will help achieve sustainable development, particularly within the energy space,” a statement from the agency said.

The statement highlighted that there will be exhibitions of breakthroughs and innovations in the circular economy space and the energy industry, adding that players within this space are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity.

“The conference will be live-streamed on all our digital platforms, to ensure participants enjoy a great interactive experience with all our speakers and panellists drawn from within and outside Nigeria,” it added.
