In a bid to fortify existing collaborations locally and ease the achievement of the ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda, the Ministry of Environment has strengthened ties with the ministries of Works and Housing and Urban Development.

The ties were sealed when the Minister of Environment, Balarabe Lawal embarked on a familiarisation visit to Minister of Works, Sen. David Umahi; Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwarzo and the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abdullahi Tijjani Gwarzo.

Describing the visit as essential for strengthening partnerships, Minister Lawal emphasised the significance of collaboration among the three ministries, citing its role in achieving the mandates outlined during the Presidential retreat. He highlighted key areas of collaboration, including environmental impact assessment, tree planting, erosion control, pollution control, and climate change initiatives.

During the meeting, Lawal assured his colleagues that the Ministry of Environment is committed to fulfilling the mandate given by President Bola Tinubu. He outlined six key priority areas related to the environment as stipulated in the administration’s eight-point economic agenda.

In response, the three ministers praised Lawal’s proactive approach and pledged their ministries’ commitment to complying with environmental regulations. The collaborative efforts aim to address environmental challenges and contribute to sustainable development.

The visit follows a similar working visit by the newly deployed permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works, Dr. Yakubu Mata, to the permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Mahmud Kambari. The exchange aims to reinforce collaboration and enhance the working relationship between the ministries.
