As aviation workers in Nigeria joined their colleagues worldwide to celebrate Worker’s Day, the Minister of Aviation, Sen. Hadi Sirika congratulated them on their daily contributions to the industry’s running and development.

Also, Sirika assured the workers of his commitment to implementing the respective conditions of service (CoS) of agencies under the ministry’s supervision and payment of the minimum wage as agreed with the labour unions.

The minister acknowledged that the nation’s aviation sector’s lofty achievements would not have been possible without the commitment and personal sacrifices of employees in different segments of the industry. He specifically attributed the near-total achievement of the aviation roadmap to workers’ understanding and cooperation. He hoped that the remaining parts will be accomplished before the handover to the incoming administration.

Sirika reaffirmed the Buhari administration’s commitment to continuously improving aviation workers’ welfare through regular training, enhanced pay packages, provision of working tools and conducive work environments.

However, the minister expressed concern over the frequency of workers’ strikes in the industry, which often disrupt operations at the nation’s airports and sent the wrong signals to the outside world about Nigeria’s airspace safety.

Sirika wished all workers in the aviation sector a wonderful celebration and encouraged them to continue contributing their best to the growth of the industry.
