Internet: NIGCOMSAT, Dimension Data Sign Service Provision Agreement

NIGCOMSAT and Dimension Data have signed a partnership agreement for the Nigerian communications satellite service provider to provide Internet services on the NigComSat-1R network [on the Ku dedicated band] for a year, in the first instance.

The agreement was sealed by the chief executive officers of both companies, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen (NIGCOMSAT Ltd) and Mr. Olugbenga Olabiyi (Dimension Data).

Dimension Data, a leading IT solutions and internet service provider, has a vision of delivering innovative technology and solutions in Nigeria, the Middle East and Africa. The company has a wide range of clients including the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Following the signing, Egerton-Idehen expressed optimism about the partnership, emphasising NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to providing excellent services to its clients with upgraded cutting-edge technology. She also stated that NIGCOMSAT is competing effectively in the global satellite market and is well-positioned for business.

The NIGCOMSAT boss further mentioned that NIGCOMSAT had completed a pilot scheme with Dimension Data and was pleased to have signed a master service agreement. She highlighted the company’s efforts to reposition itself, ensuring excellent service delivery, reliable infrastructure and continuous technological advancement.

Olabiyi emphasised the company’s focus on creating unique and bespoke IT solutions for its customers while delivering value-driven services that enhance productivity and business growth.

A statement by NIGCOMSAT’s assistant general manager corporate affairs, Aisha Bantam, explained that the new NIGCOMSAT is gradually meeting the objectives of the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy under the leadership of Dr. Bosun Tijani. The ministry is spearheading initiatives to expand connectivity and promote digital inclusion in the nation’s economy.
