The Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji has touted the pivotal role of innovation, science and technology in driving Nigeria’s economic growth.

Nnaji stated that the current administration is committed to establishing lasting legacies, with a keen focus on making the Innovation, Science, and Technology sector the cornerstone of development.

During a recent courtesy visit by the national coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli, Nnaji conveyed the ministry’s dedication to producing numerous research products and expressed interest in commercialising them to boost the country’s economic advancement.

Nnaji urged Nigerians to support SERVICOM, emphasising its crucial role as an instrumental force for service delivery and national development. The permanent secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Esuabana Nko-Asanye reiterated the ministry’s commitment to quality and effective service delivery to the public, as well as capacity-building for staff in various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).

Nko-Asanye commended the achievements of SERVICOM over its 20-year existence and encouraged the organisation to continue its commendable work. She emphasised the importance of sustaining efforts toward quality service delivery.

The national coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli explained that her visit aimed to foster collaboration with the ministry, particularly in connecting with the directors-general of the 17 agencies responsible for service delivery to Nigerians. She highlighted SERVICOM’s role in encouraging the public through effective service delivery to build trust and support for government policies and programmes.

In a statement by the ministry’s deputy director of press and public relations, Atuora Obed, Akajemeli commended the Ministry for its commitment to quality service delivery. She encouraged the ministry not to relent in its people-oriented work, emphasising the importance of sustained efforts in meeting the needs and expectations of the Nigerian populace. The collaboration between the ministry and SERVICOM is poised to enhance service delivery, strengthen connections with agency DGs and contribute to the socio-economic development of Nigeria.
