The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development has refuted stories making the round that it has relocated a fire-fighting simulator from the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology (NCAT) in Zaria to Lagos.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo (SAN) dismissed the rumours and assured the public that there is no truth whatsoever in the speculation.

In a statement released over the weekend by the special assistant on media and communications to the minister, Tunde Moshood the ministry labeled the rumours “pure mischief” and emphasised their “lack of substance”.

The statement highlighted that the ministry became aware of a video circulating about a motion in the House of Representatives, referencing an alleged plan by the ministry to relocate the fire-fighting simulator. The ministry categorically dismissed this as misinformation and emphasised that the rumour is baseless and untrue.

The ministry acknowledged the House’s patriotism in entertaining the motion but deemed it unnecessary, considering that the Speaker had already privately discussed the matter with the minister. During the private audience, the minister assured the Speaker that there was no truth in the rumours. Additionally, the minister reached out to the Rector of the Nigerian College of Aviation Technology, who also confirmed that the rumour was unfounded mischief.

The ministry questioned the motive behind the motion, stating, “So, why the motion?” and urged the public to disregard such rumours. The ministry concluded that the circulation of such misinformation amounts to grandstanding by individuals attempting to make political gains out of a non-existent issue.
