The permanent secretary, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), Dr. Ernest Umakhihe has been recognised and awarded by the Integrated Institute of Professional Management (IIPM) for his exemplary leadership in driving the diversification policy of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration in the agricultural sector.
Receiving the National Transformational Leadership Award and Fellow investiture yesterday in Abuja, Umakhihe said the advanced leadership development workshop and fellowship induction was an opportunity to broaden the knowledge and personal abilities of the participants towards greater responsibilities to the ministry.
Represented by the ministry’s director, planning and policy coordination (P&PC), Mr. Ibrahim Bello, Umakhihe added that “this accomplishment is not something that I did alone. The management and entire staff of the ministry deserve to share [in] these awards”.
Earlier in his remarks, the programme director, IIPM, Eburuche Banito stated the organisation’s vision was to run an efficient and responsive way to promote professionalism and excellence through a high standard of practice.
A statement by the ministry’s director of information signed by Ikemefuna Ezeaja said the high-point of the event was the presentation of awards to Umakhihe, along with other Nigerians who have been able to distinguish themselves in various sectors across the country.
