The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has suspended the Permit for Non-Commercial Flight (PNCF) of Mattini Airline Service Limited with immediate effect, in line with Sec 32 (4) of the Civil Aviation Act 2022.

This action comes on the heels of a runway excursion incident involving a Challenger CL 601 aircraft, registered as N580KR, operated by Mattini Airline Services Limited at Ibadan Airport on January 26, 2024.

The suspension, outlined in a statement by the authority’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, Michael Achimugu will remain in effect until an assessment determines that the conditions of the PNCF have been fully adhered to. The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated a safety investigation into the occurrence.

Simultaneously, the NCAA has launched an economic inquiry into the aircraft’s operation, specifically examining its compliance with the terms and conditions outlined in the PNCF Annexure. The swift suspension underscores the regulatory commitment to safety protocols and compliance within the aviation sector.

Additionally, the NCAA has taken a broader step by initiating a safety and economic audit of all private jet operations in Nigeria. This move underscores the authority’s dedication to ensuring the highest safety standards and aligning with global best practices. Travellers are assured of the NCAA’s unwavering commitment to safety in air travel.
