In a bid to fortify its standing in the realm of digital governance, Nigeria is set to host a workshop during the 17th Edition of the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV).

The initiative, being driven by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, aims to bolster the effective design and implementation of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government invites researchers from the broader academic community to submit papers tailored to the workshop’s theme, “Designing and Implementing Scalable and Inclusive Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) in African Context.” These DPI-focused papers should align with the conference’s diverse tracks, covering trust and ethical digital governance, digital transformation and innovation in the public sector, future-ready digital workforce and infrastructure development, public and private sector governing digital economies and a special focus on the global south digital transformation.

The top three authors of the selected DPI-centric papers will receive sponsorship to participate in this special workshop. To avail of this opportunity, authors are required to notify NITDA by forwarding their ICEGOV acceptance notification to llamid@nitda.gov.ng by July 12, 2024.

Important Dates:

  • Paper Submission Deadline: April 21, 2024
  • ICEGOV Acceptance Notification: July 10, 2024
  • Winners’ Announcement Date: July 15, 2024

ICEGOV, an annual congregation of academia, governments, international organisations, civil society and industry, serves as a global platform to exchange the latest insights and experiences in the theory and practice of digital governance. Organised by the United Nations University (UNU-EGOV) in collaboration with UNESCO, ICEGOV2024 will unfold in Pretoria, South Africa, from October 1 to 4, 2024, under the overarching theme of “Trust and Ethical Digital Governance for the World We Want”.

The objectives of Nigeria’s active participation include deepening its global research presence in key technology areas, providing diverse local and global perspectives on digital governance, strengthening the nation’s research leadership in the global south and enhancing Nigeria’s global standing in the digital community.

Participation in ICEGOV2024 serves as a significant opportunity for Nigeria to showcase well-researched and world-class papers from academia, industry, and government, reinforcing its commitment to advancing digital governance on the global stage.
