The director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) and permanent representative of Nigeria at the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), Prof. Mansur Matazu, has emphasised the importance of stakeholder engagement at the sub-national level in the framework of the Early Warning for All initiative.

Matazu made this statement while addressing members at the 76th session of the World Meteorological Organisation (WMO) Executive Council meeting, currently taking place in Geneva, Switzerland.

He further explained that this would enhance the effective dissemination of warnings and encourage increased partnership in the value chain of early warning, thereby achieving the goal of Early Warning for All. This includes reducing loss of lives and property, as well as improving economies through savings on resources, among other benefits.

The meeting, which started on February 27, 2023, will continue until March 3, 2023.
