The governing board of the Projects Development Institute (PRODA) Enugu has passed a vote of confidence on the institute’s director-general, Dr. Peter Ogbobe for his exceptional leadership and the impressive progress made within nine months of his assumption of office.
Speaking at the board’s first meeting for 2023, its chairman, Chief Emma Eneukwu expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable transformational activities carried out by the DG and commended his resilience and capacity to turn the institute around.
Eneukwu also applauded the management for their laudable on-going projects, including the construction and equipping of an auditorium, modern ICT centre, multipurpose hall, sports facilities and a 1.9-km access road to the institute.
The chairman acknowledged the relative peace and progress in the institute, which he attributed to the DG’s leadership and the management’s dedication. He urged the DG to increase efforts towards innovative research and development to combat youth restiveness, banditry and poverty while contributing to the nation’s GDP.
Reacting to the visit of three union chairmen – Engr Onyedikachi lhedioha, Engr. Amos Okeke represented by his secretary Comr. Chimezie Philip and Comr. Gabriel Ohieme – who pledged their support for the DG and board, Eneukwu emphasised the importance of PRODA as the only research institute in the southeast and encouraged them to join hands with the DG to move the institute to greater heights.
Other board members, Chief Dr. Egu, Hon. Victor Ebong and Comrade Toye Fawole, expressed satisfaction with the DG’s developmental projects and his unifying leadership style. They described the situation when they came in as a “mad house” but noted the total departure from that scenario due to the DG’s selfless services and dedication to duty. They urged the staff to channel their energy positively, while emphasising the unity of purpose among the board members.
In conclusion, the PRODA governing board’s vote of confidence on Ogbobe is a testament to his outstanding leadership and management skills, which have significantly transformed the institute in a short period.
