
Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio and Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde visited the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) Cassava Mechanisation Facility in Fasola, near Ibadan, to witness how technology is revolutionising cassava production and improving rural livelihoods.
The visit allowed AATF to showcase its advanced cassava processing facility, which transforms fresh cassava roots into high-quality cassava flour (HQCF). The demonstration highlighted AATF’s commitment to using innovative technologies to boost productivity and create economic opportunities for smallholder farmers.
As part of a broader tour of the Fasola Agribusiness Hub, a key initiative of the Oyo State Government, the visit underscored Makinde’s focus on driving economic growth through agricultural transformation.
AATF’s project coordinator on mechanization and agro-processing, Samuel Ogunleye introduced the facility and detailed efforts to support local cassava farmers with best agronomic practices, mechanized farming services and training on cassava utilisation.
Governor Makinde praised the initiative for enhancing food security, creating jobs, and strengthening the economy. President Bio also commended the technology-driven approach, emphasising the importance of innovation in advancing Africa’s agricultural sector.
