The Federal Character Commission (FCC) has denied recent reports making the rounds that its executive chairman, Dr. Muheebah Dankaka was arrested by the police.
An official statement from the commission refuted the claims, confirming that Dankaka was present at her office on Thursday, actively performing her official duties.
An internal check at the FCC headquarters verified Dankaka’s continued presence at work. A staff member affirmed, “I saw her in the office and she was present on Thursday”.
Additionally, the FCC emphasised that its chairman has no issues with her academic records. She pursued her education in Nigeria, obtaining degrees from the Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University, without any controversies surrounding her academic history.
The commission dismissed claims of certificate forgery, terming them “nonsensical” and attributing them to individuals concerned about Dankaka’s rising profile. The FCC stated that “There are no controversies about her education”.
A source indicated that the ongoing campaign against Dankaka is likely driven by those uneasy with her effective leadership and contributions to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda. The FCC believes that Dankaka has significantly elevated the standards of the commission since assuming office, a sentiment reportedly echoed by the majority of staff and commissioners.
