The Institute of Strategic and Development Communication (ISDEVCOM) at Nasarawa State University, Keffi has announced that it is gearing up for its inaugural annual alumni engagement and lecture series, along with the induction of new members into the alumni association.
The much-anticipated event is scheduled to take place on July 13, aiming to bring together over 100 new alumnus of the institute, who will be welcomed into the association during a grand ceremony.
The induction lecture, which is anticipated to be the centerpiece of the event, will be delivered by former senior special adviser to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua on media and publicity and chairman of the editorial board of ThisDay Newspapers, Mr. Segun Adeniyi.
Adding to the prestige of the occasion, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle will grace the event as the special guest of honour and will deliver a keynote address. The managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Malam Ali M. Ali will preside over the event as its chairman, further elevating the significance of the ceremony.
Other notable figures expected to be in attendance include the vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Sa’adatu Liman; National president of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku; Managing director of Africa Independent Television, Mrs. Oluwatosin Dokpesi and the current director of ISDEVCOM, Prof. E S. Dandaura. Their presence will highlight the importance and recognition of the institute’s endeavors in the field of strategic and development communication.
President of ISDEVCOM Scholars and Alumni Association, Mr. George Ndukwu emphasised the significance of the induction in welcoming new ISDEVCOM scholars and alumni. He expressed that the event aims to provide insights into future opportunities in the realm of development communication, setting the stage for the new members to make meaningful contributions to the field.
Coordinator of the Induction ceremony, Dr. Azubuike Erinugha expressed confidence in the success of the upcoming event and assured that it would be “an unforgettable experience.” As the scholars and alumni become part of the association, they are expected to uphold the values and knowledge instilled in them, ultimately becoming ambassadors of the university and the practice of development communication in Nigeria.
