The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) has debunked stories making the rounds that it has delayed the distribution of rice palliatives assigned to members of the National Assembly.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the ministry’s director of information, Dr. Joel Oruche, it categorically stated that the FMAFS is not involved in the distribution of any palliative.
The statement clarified the nature of the issue, attributing it to constituency projects budgeted for under the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation and housed in the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security. It highlighted the standard procedure of funds for National Assembly constituency projects being managed by the relevant ministry for proper implementation.
According to the statement, the ongoing implementation process for the 2023 Supplementary Appropriation includes various constituency projects catering to constituents’ needs, such as staple grains and agricultural infrastructure, as determined by respective National Assembly members.
