The director-general of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Mallam Kashifu Abdullahi has been honoured with the prestigious Award of Good Governance for passionately promoting President Muhammadu Buhari’s digital economic agenda.
According to the APC Ambassadors for Good Governance, the decision to honour Abdullahi with the award – the first and only one to be given out by the group – was reached after its national executive council meeting where it unanimously accepted the request of Youth and Civil Society Coalition For Development to recognise Abdullahi.
The award was presented to the DG during the one-day national summit/unveiling of an appraisal hub on good governance and the official inauguration of state chapters, as well as FCT, held in Abuja.
While attributing NITDA’s sterling performance over the years to the Federal Government’s commitment to achieving a digital Nigeria, speakers at the event also commended the agency for its excellent service delivery to the Nigerian populace.
Represented by the agency’s acting director, corporate planning and strategy, Dr. Aristotle Onumo, Abdullahi hailed the recognition – recently recognised by President Muhammadu Buhari, who presented the National Productivity Order of Merit Award to Abdullahi – as a testament to the impressive trajectory of the agency.
The NITDA DG seized the opportunity to highlight some strategies and strides of the parastatal made possible by the ingenious leadership prowess of the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami.
“There is hardly any states or local government in Nigeria [where] you won’t find the footprints of NITDA. We are giving all to ensure that the country is reckoned [with] in the comity of digital nations.”
The director-general of the group, Ambassador Nnamdi Inyekwe was convinced that the award will boost the morale of Abdullahi and the agency’s workforce to break new grounds.
The event, themed “Equipping leaders for effective grassroots mobilization ahead of 2023 elections” brought together members from across the 36 states of the Federation and the FCT.
