The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has launched the second phase of training for its management staff on the Microsoft Learning Management Systems(LMS).
This three-day session, held at NiMet’s Abuja headquarters, began on October 29, 2024 and will conclude on October 31, 2024.
This training aligns with the strategic vision of NiMet’s director-general, Prof. Charles Anosike, which emphasises continuous improvement, development and innovation within the agency. It also follows a directive from the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, urging agencies under the ministry to prioritise the development of their workforce.
Anosike expressed confidence that implementing LMS would significantly enhance NiMet’s training initiatives. “This system will redefine online learning in our agency and extend educational opportunities to the public on our products and services,” he noted.
The special assistant on ICT to the DG, Mr. Cyprian Okpalaku highlighted the training’s objective of enhancing staff computer skills and encouraging LMS adoption across the agency. “This programme will improve the integration of our units and departments, promoting synergy and efficiency,” Okpalaku added.
The training marks a step forward in NiMet’s mission to modernise its workforce, ensuring that staff remain at the forefront of digital skills development to improve service delivery.
