The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a public alert regarding the anticipated occurrence of moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility ranging from 2 to 5 km and localised visibility of less than or equal to 1000m.
This condition is expected to prevail over northern Nigeria, Inland cities of the south and coastal cities from December 28 to 30,2023.
NiMet, through its Central Forecast Office (CFO), revealed that it anticipates a scenario with few clouds in a hazy atmosphere over coastal cities during the forecast period.
The agency advised the general public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are expected to be in suspension during this period. Individuals with asthma and other respiratory issues were particularly urged to exercise caution in the present weather conditions.
In addition, NiMet has recommended that airline operators stay informed with updated weather reports from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
