
The director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike, has been named Aviation Sector CEO of the Year 2024 by Independent Newspapers Limited in Lagos.
The organizers recognised Prof. Anosike for his proactive leadership and efforts in transforming NiMet within a short period. They highlighted the agency’s contributions to various socio-economic sectors through strategic partnerships with local and international institutions.
His citation particularly commended NiMet’s issuance of early warnings to mitigate climate-related disasters such as floods, which threaten farmlands, properties, and lives across Nigeria.
In his acceptance speech, Prof. Anosike dedicated the award to NiMet’s staff and management, acknowledging their hard work and commitment. He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN, for his leadership and support.
Meanwhile, Keyamo was also honoured at the event, receiving the Minister of the Year 2024 award for his contributions to the aviation sector.
