Director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike has inaugurated a committee to review the agency’s conditions of service (CoS).
The event, held on Friday, underscored the agency’s commitment to aligning its policies with current realities and improving staff welfare.
Representing the director-general, director of weather forecasting services, Professor Vincent Weli highlighted the importance of the review, noting that the last update was conducted over five years ago. He emphasised that the current CoS is outdated and needs to be revamped to meet present needs and future challenges.
“This task is significant,” Anosike remarked, “as it provides an opportunity for the committee to develop a Condition of Service that not only meets our present needs but also anticipates future challenges and opportunities.”
Anosike urged the committee to conduct extensive consultations within and outside the aviation sector and identify the benchmark for best practices. This approach will enhance NiMet’s operational efficiency and improve staff welfare. The committee has been given a month to submit a draft copy for management’s consideration.
