The director-general of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet), Prof. Charles Anosike has been honoured with the sustainability award from the Sustainable Development Centre (SDC) of the University of Abuja.
At a banquet and award ceremony held at the Armed Forces Officers Mess & Suites on Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in honour of the immediate past vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Abdulrasheed Na’Allah, Anosike was presented with an ‘Award of Excellence in Sustainable Climate Policy’.
The event, chaired by former governor of Ogun State, Sen. Gbenga Daniel (Ogun East), was attended by members of the political class, academia, captains of industry and the acting vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Aisha Maikudi.
Anosike, represented by his special adviser on general duties, Dr. Uche Nworah expressed gratitude for the honour. He affirmed NiMet’s commitment to its mandate of observing, analysing and providing timely and accurate weather and climate information for socio-economic development and the safety of lives and property.
