The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Sen. Adeleke Mamora has said that the unity and development of Nigeria depend on citizens’ collective commitment and dedication to the nation’s success.
Mamora stated that the economic crunch ravaging the world, including Nigeria, had become unbearable, as the situation had led to unemployment, an increase in crime and youth restiveness among others.
The minister said this during the launch of his biography titled Olorunnimbe over the weekend in Lagos.
He emphasised that the present socio-economic and political challenges in the country will only be surmounted by patience, hard work, collective responsibility, collaboration and innovation of Nigerians.
Mamora reminded Nigerians, particularly the youths, that the progress and success of the country rely mostly on their positive attitudes towards achieving the national goals, stressing that “posterity will not forgive us if we fail to provide a vibrant and sustainable economy”.
To this end, he appealed to Nigerians to be focused on the unity and development of the country to an enviable position among the comity of nations.
Speaking virtually at the occasion, President Muhammadu Buhari called the minister “a man of high integrity worthy of emulation” while former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, stated that “Mamora is a man of honour whose footsteps align with those of his father, who was empathetic to the development and success of humanity”.
A statement by the ministry’s deputy director, press and public relations, Atuora Obed said Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, who also spoke virtually, described the minister as an “epitome of wisdom, a team leader and achiever in the discharge of his duty”. He further called on Nigerians to always work collectively towards achieving “the Nigeria of our dream”.
