The Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force, has announced plans to host the Nigeria International Air Show in 2025, to position Nigeria as a key player in the global aviation and aerospace industries.
The decision was formalised during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, in Abuja. During the meeting, Abubakar revealed that the Nigerian Air Force had initially been working independently on its air show. However, upon learning of the ministry’s parallel initiative, he proposed a joint venture to combine efforts and resources, ensuring a larger, more impactful event.
Keyamo commended Abubakar’s vision and initiative, emphasising the importance of collaboration between the ministry and the Nigerian Air Force in achieving shared goals. “This partnership is a milestone in advancing our aviation and aerospace capabilities and showcases Nigeria as a growing hub for innovation in these industries,” the minister said.
To coordinate and manage the event effectively, an eight-member committee has been established. The committee, comprising representatives from both the Ministry and the Nigerian Air Force, will oversee the planning, logistics, stakeholder engagement, and international collaborations for the air show.
The 2025 Nigeria International Air Show is anticipated to be a high-profile event, drawing global stakeholders, including manufacturers, investors, regulators and aviation enthusiasts. The show will serve as a platform for exhibiting cutting-edge technologies, fostering international partnerships, and promoting advancements in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Beyond its immediate industry focus, the air show is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economic growth. It promises to create opportunities for foreign investment, highlight the country’s aerospace potential and boost international recognition of Nigeria’s aviation capabilities.
Keyamo noted that such initiatives align with the government’s broader objectives of fostering innovation, stimulating economic development and positioning Nigeria as a competitive force in the global aerospace market.
The collaboration between the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the Nigerian Air Force signals a new chapter of synergy in Nigeria’s aviation history. By merging resources and expertise, the two entities aim to deliver a world-class air show that underscores Nigeria’s potential and commitment to excellence in aviation and aerospace.
The 2025 Nigeria International Air Show promises to be a landmark event for Nigeria and the global aviation community, as the country continues to build its profile as a dynamic player in the aerospace industry.
