On the sidelines of COP29, Nigeria’s Minister of Environment, Mallam Balarabe Lawal, participated in a high-level dialogue titled “South-South Cooperation Promotes Sustainable Development in Developing Countries,” at the invitation of the Chinese delegation.  

In a major step toward addressing the global climate crisis, the minister signed a landmark memorandum of understanding (MOU) on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria with the People’s Republic of China. The MOU seeks to accelerate climate action through innovative solutions, mutual cooperation and shared expertise in tackling environmental challenges.  

This partnership underscores Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to #GreenNigeria and highlights the vital role of south-south collaboration in achieving sustainable development for developing nations. Together, these efforts aim to build a greener, more resilient future for all.
