The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd. has felicitated the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami on his appointment to chair the 2022 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Forum by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The managing director, NIGCOMSAT Ltd, Dr. Abimbola Alale, who spoke on behalf of the board, management and staff of the agency, expressed joy and satisfaction on the choice of Pantami. “This was due to his diligent, hard work and passion in the information and communication technology (ICT) Industry.”
According to Alale, there couldn’t have been a better choice to lead the forum’s session recognising the tremendous impact of Pantami’s leadership in the ICT industry in the country. “Since the minister’s assumption [of office], the focus and direction of the industry on the Nigerian economy has changed to a more fruitful, impactful [one] and growth.”
Describing the importance of such a role in the furtherance of the communications and digital economy, Alale expressed the belief that recognising him to chair such an important and global event cannot be unconnected to the minister’s role and policies in the growth and contribution of the ICT section to Nigeria’s gross domestic product (GDP).
A statement by the organisation’s general manager, corporate affairs and special project, Dr. Adamu Idris, said while wishing the minister success in the conduct of the forum, Alale observed that the gains the country would have during and after the event will be “unquantifiable”.
