The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has confirmed that its official website is fully operational.
This announcement was made in a statement by its head of media and public relations at NHIA, Mr. Emmanuel Ononokpono and shared with journalists over the weekend in Abuja.
Ononokpono clarified that the official website, https://www.nhia.gov.ng is active and accessible to the public. He addressed an inaccurate report that referred to the website of the now-defunct National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), which was NHIA’s predecessor.
“The website mentioned in the report belongs to the defunct National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS),” he explained. “That site is currently being decommissioned as part of the transition to the enhanced NHIA digital platform.”
He added that the NHIA’s current website, launched three months ago, features significant upgrades aimed at supporting data migration efforts and improving the user experience for stakeholders.
Ononokpono urged media professionals to verify information with the agency before publication to help prevent the spread of misinformation. “We value and welcome feedback from our stakeholders and encourage media professionals to contact us for accurate information and clarifications before publishing reports,” he said.
NHIA reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining transparent communication and providing accessible digital services for all stakeholders in Nigeria’s health insurance sector.
