The permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Temitope Peter Fashedemi has assured the nation and staff of the ministry that he will channel hope in the nation’s agricultural sector.
Fashedemi, who assumed office on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 and was speaking during a brief handover ceremony held at the ministry’s conference room, expressed gratitude to the ministers and the ministry’s staff for the warm reception he received. In his address, he pledged to champion the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the agriculture sector. The focus will be on achieving food and nutrition security while fostering economic growth for the country.
Highlighting the agriculture sector as one of the top four priority areas of the present administration, Fashedemi emphasised its significance in terms of food security, job creation, poverty alleviation, and overall economic growth. He emphasised his commitment to collaborative efforts, stating, “I am a team player, and as a family, we are better positioned to achieve the mandate of the ministry”.
The incoming permanent secretary urged the directors to lend their support to the ministers in achieving the ministry’s mandate, emphasising the goals of achieving food sufficiency and boosting the economy.
In her welcome address, the director of human resources management, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Alade assured Fashedemi of the total support, loyalty and commitment of the management and its staff. The appointment of the new permanent secretary is expected to inject fresh momentum into the ministry’s efforts to address key agricultural challenges and contribute to the overall development goals of the nation.
