The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has joined forces with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to establish the Civil Aviation Masterplan (CAMP).
During a recent visit to ICAO in Montreal, Canada, director-general of the Civil Aviation Nigeria, Captain Musa Nuhu and ICAO secretary-general Mr. Juan Salaazar signed the agreement. This pivotal step is poised to unlock new opportunities within the Nigerian aviation sector.
Nuhu emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating, “The implementation of the Masterplan marks a significant stride in realigning the nation’s aviation industry for optimal potential. It is poised to contribute significantly to the growth and development of the nation’s economy. All pertinent stakeholders within and beyond the aviation ecosystem will be actively engaged in the development and execution of the CAMP.”
In a parallel development, on August 3, 2023, the Director of NCAA, along with his counterpart DG ANAC from Benin Republic, Mr. Karl Legba, signed the Aeronautical Search and Rescue (SAR) memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Nigeria and the Benin Republic.
Nuhu expressed his conviction that “this long-awaited MoU will elevate the safety of flight operations in the region.” Additionally, SAR Agreements were formalised between Nigeria and Togo, with the signing taking place at ANAC Togo headquarters in Lome. Nuhu and director of ANAC Togo, Col. Latta Gnama signed the agreement on behalf of their respective nations.
Nuhu further conveyed that more SAR MoUs with neighbouring countries is anticipated to be executed within the upcoming weeks. This collaborative effort underscores the commitment to enhancing aviation safety and security in the region.
