…As FAAN puts measures in place to assist stranded passengers
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has announced the grounding of Arik Air aircraft due to legal issues, affecting the airline’s flights and passengers.
In a statement signed by director of consumer protection and public affairs, Michael Achimugu the NCAA expressed empathy for all affected passengers and assured them of the protection of their rights as critical stakeholders.
The NCAA confirmed it is monitoring the situation and engaging with Arik Air regarding plans for affected passengers. Consumer protection officers are available at terminals to oversee passenger handling and provide information.
The NCAA encouraged air travelers to visit the NCAA Consumer Protection offices, where officers are ready to offer assistance.
Similarly, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has assured Nigerians that it is aware of the grounding of Arik Airline due to litigation issues between the airline and its creditors.
The authority has instructed all airport managers across the country to assist affected passengers as Arik Airline works out plans to rebook and transfer them to other available flights.
