NASENI Mourns Assassinated Institute’s Managing Director

The management of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has expressed shock over the assassination of the head of one of its institutes, Prof. Samuel Ndubuisi.

Ndubuisi, the managing director, Scientific Equipment Development Institute (SEDI-Enugu), was shot dead by unknown gunmen on his way back home from the office along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Enugu, yesterday.

A statement personally signed by the NASENI executive vice chairman, Prof. Maiwalima Haruna, and made available to Science Nigeria, described the late Ndubuisi as a dedicated staff whose contributions led to the successes at the agency.

The statement reads in part, “Professor Ndubuisi was until this sudden exit, a dedicated and very passionate person whose efforts at SEDI Enugu has led to many advancements and innovations. He was a delight to work with and I will personally miss his support and contributions to the successes which we are witnessing in NASENI and which have positioned the agency amongst the industrial giants in the country.

“His loss is irreparable to the agency and our prayers are with the family at this time. While praying that God receives his soul I hereby direct that all flags of NASENI be flown at half mast from sunrise on Monday, July 12 to sunset on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, to honour the memory and services of the late managing director.”

The management also sympathized with the entire NASENI workforce on the shocking development, particularly the employees of NASENI located at SEDI, Enugu. It prayed Almighty God to provide comfort and peace to get through the days ahead.

The NASENI management assured all that it had reached out to the relevant security authorities and that efforts are ongoing to ensure the criminals involved are brough to justice, even as it urged all staff of NASENI to be calm, watchful and take precautionary measures to be safe, pointing out that the safety of anyone is the peace of all.

It further pleaded with all to refrain from speculations and unconfirmed rumors over the matter as the case is being handled by the appropriate authorities.
