The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is hosting a two-day strategic retreat in Abuja to enhance cohesion among its development institutes and align their objectives with the agency’s overarching vision. Participants include overseeing officers managing the institutes, project managers, coordinating directors and senior officials from NASENI’s headquarters.
The retreat aims to strengthen leadership skills, ensure collaborative synergies between the development institutes and NASENI’s headquarters, maximise resource utilisation and improve decision-making processes. Additionally, it focuses on directing research and development (R&D) efforts toward market-ready solutions capable of driving sustainable economic growth.
In his opening address, NASENI’s executive vice chairman, Mr. Khalil Halilu highlighted the retreat’s importance as a blueprint for action. He stated that every participant plays a pivotal role in realising NASENI’s vision of innovation, self-reliance and technological advancement.
“The strategies and commitments developed here will determine how effectively NASENI leads Nigeria into a future defined by innovation. This retreat aims to instill a shared commitment to excellence through global best practices in innovation management,” Halilu said.
He emphasised the need for better alignment between the development institutes’ goals and NASENI’s renewed vision, describing the retreat as a transformative step anchored on the principles of creation, collaboration and commercialisation (3Cs).
“These principles encapsulate NASENI’s mission of creating cutting-edge, commercially viable solutions that directly impact Nigerians and align with the President’s ‘Renewed Hope’ agenda,” he added.
Halilu commended the development institutes’ achievements in advancing indigenous technology and addressing national challenges. However, he stressed the importance of continuous adaptation and alignment to remain relevant in a rapidly changing world.
In a statement, NASENI’s director of information, Olusegun Ayeoyenikan quoted Halilu urging participants to engage fully, think boldly and collaborate purposefully.
“This is our opportunity to redefine our collective impact and reaffirm our commitment to a vision that unites all institutes under the banner of national progress. Together, we can achieve extraordinary outcomes,” Halilu concluded.
