NASENI’s executive vice chairman, Khalil Halilu hosted the launch event for the Presidential CNG Initiative’s (Pi-CNG) Conversion Incentive Programme for the rideshare sector and the introduction of the MY-CNG App.
The event took place at NASENI’s compressed natural gas engineering, training and conversion facility in Utako, Abuja.
Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources, Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo and the director-general of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr. Muhammed Bulama were among the notable figures present at the event.
Halilu emphasised the significance of the Pi-CNG Initiative in Nigeria’s gas revolution and the potential of CNG as a cleaner and more affordable vehicle fuel. He announced a 50 per cent discount for rideshare drivers who sign up and utilise the newly launched MY-CNG App, aimed at providing a viable solution to reduce the cost of living for Nigerians.
He also acknowledged the importance of collaboration and commended partners Pi-CNG, Portland and Dana Motors for their dedication. The launch of the MY-CNG App and the Conversion Incentive Program demonstrates NASENI’s commitment to leveraging technology for national development goals, including energy efficiency, climate action, job creation and poverty alleviation.
A statement by the agency’s director of information, Mr. Olusegun Ayeoyenikan emphasised NASENI’s role as Nigeria’s leading technology-transfer agency, fostering innovation, research and development to support the country’s industrial growth and economic sustainability.
