In a significant development, Mr. Kabir Yusuf Mohammed has officially taken charge as the managing director and chief executive officer of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN). His appointment by the Federal Government of Nigeria came into effect after the tenure of the former MD/CEO, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu, ended on May 19, 2023.
During a concise handover ceremony held today, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at the FAAN headquarters in Abuja, the new MD/CEO expressed his admiration for Capt. Yadudu’s remarkable contributions and exemplary leadership in the aviation industry, not only in Nigeria but also globally.
Mohammed brings with him a wealth of experience in aviation safety and security, having served as the regional general manager for north central airports and chairman of the Aviation Roadmap Implementation Committee before assuming this new role. His extensive background as a seasoned administrator and astute aviator from both the public and private sectors positions him well to build upon the substantial accomplishments of his predecessor, Capt. Rabiu Yadudu.
Furthermore, Mohammed is a distinguished alumnus of the International Visitors Leadership Programme, a prestigious initiative by the United States Government. He also holds a diploma in airport executive leadership from ACI/Concordia University and is recognised as an International Airport Professional (IAP).
Prior to his appointment as the MD/CEO of FAAN, Mohammed held various key positions within the organization, including special assistant to the managing director, head of Servicom at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport Kano, chief liaison officer at the FAAN Liaison Office in Abuja, chief of staff to the MD/CEO, general manager of special duties, as well as regional general manager for north central and airport manager at Abuja Airport.
In a statement issued by the acting general manager of corporate affairs, Mrs. Faithful Hope-Ivbaze, the newly appointed MD/CEO was congratulated and warmly welcomed as he assumes the leadership mantle. The statement also expressed gratitude to Capt. Rabiu Yadudu for his innovative mindset and dedicated work during his tenure, while extending best wishes for his future endeavours.
With Mohammed now at the helm, FAAN can anticipate continued progress and advancement under his capable leadership. As the new managing director/chief executive officer, he is poised to steer FAAN towards even greater heights in the realm of aviation.
