The Minister of Livestock Development, Idi Maiha has urged for greater collaboration to enhance Nigeria’s dairy sector and ensure its sustainability for future generations.
He made this statement during a courtesy visit from a delegation of Inter-Heritage Promotions Limited in Abuja.
The minister commended the firm’s partnership with Sweden and emphasised the need for more collaboration to drive progress in the dairy sector, particularly in support of the Federal Government’s school feeding program.
Maiha highlighted Nigeria’s favourable market conditions for economic growth and reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to building capacity and fostering partnerships with stakeholders who are dedicated to transforming the dairy industry.
He praised the delegation’s innovative initiatives and encouraged them to intensify collaboration and refine their strategies to achieve concrete results that would benefit both the sector and the nation.
In his remarks, the managing director of Inter-Heritage Promotions Limited, Patrick Usen emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and Sweden in enhancing the dairy value chain.
According to a statement from Ben Bem Goong, the ministry’s director of information and public relations, Usen noted that the initiative offers support services, technology transfer, improved animal health and welfare, and environmentally friendly practices that will benefit both industries and the environment.
“It is an opportunity to learn from each other, exchange ideas, and strengthen our commitment to building a resilient and prosperous dairy sector for future generations,” stated Usen.
He also highlighted Sweden’s global leadership in sustainable agriculture and innovative dairy practices, which serve as benchmarks for quality, efficiency and environmental stewardship.
