The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, SAN, has stated the Federal Government’s determination to revamp the nation’s airports’ infrastructure.

During a recent facility tour of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, Keyamo expressed disappointment with the condition of various airport facilities. He specifically identified three areas in need of immediate attention: the cooling system, lifts/escalators and the carousel for conveyor belts.

“These are the amenities that visitors to our country expect to enjoy when they arrive at any airport, whether local or international,” he remarked.

The minister instructed that outdated infrastructure undergo a complete overhaul, while those in poor condition be promptly restored. He emphasized the importance of fostering a culture of good maintenance.

During the inspection of the second runway site, Keyamo noted that compensation for affected settlers by the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) had commenced and assured that work at the site would commence shortly.
