
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN was honoured today with the prestigious Fellowship Award, the highest honorary distinction of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro.
The award was presented to him by the institution’s rector, Dr. M.A. Akinde during the 45th Founder’s Day Anniversary and 22nd Convocation Ceremony held in Ilaro, Ogun State. The Fellowship Award is reserved for prominent individuals of Ogun origin who have made significant contributions to national development. Keyamo, whose mother is of Yewa descent, was recognised for his transformative impact on Nigeria’s aviation industry and his notable contributions to national progress.
In addition to his remarkable achievements in the aviation sector, the award acknowledged the minister’s deep connections to the Ilaro community. He not only has maternal roots in Ilaro, but his father and grandfather also spent considerable time in the town, further solidifying his ties to the institution and the region.
In his acceptance speech, Keyamo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, for the honour. He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing education, infrastructure and economic growth, highlighting that these elements are vital for national development.
The event was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, underscoring the significance of this recognition. The decision by the institution to honour Keyamo reflects not only his influence in the aviation sector but also his broader impact on Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
