In a significant diplomatic engagement, Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo SAN, hosted Angola’s Ambassador to Nigeria, José Bamoquina Zau and his deputy, Nelson Paulo Kafikiri, in Abuja.
The visit focused on strengthening aviation ties between Nigeria and Angola, as the latter embarks on a new era in its aviation industry. Ambassador Zau provided updates on Angola’s revamped airport infrastructure, set to launch in a month as a regional hub.
Delivering a message from Angola’s Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, the ambassador expressed eagerness to collaborate with Nigeria in the aviation sector, particularly exploring a bilateral air services agreement (BASA).
Zau extended an invitation to Keyamo for the grand opening of Angola’s new airport. He emphasised the potential mutual benefits in enhancing air connectivity and developing aviation infrastructure.
Minister Keyamo expressed appreciation for the visit and congratulated Angola on its aviation advancements. He confirmed Nigeria’s readiness to explore collaborative opportunities and formed a technical committee to work with the Angolan team on logistics and future partnerships.
