Keyamo Lauds Ministry Retirees Over Patriotism

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo, SAN, has lauded the retired directors from the ministry for their selfless service to the country, describing them as patriotic Nigerians whose contributions cannot be forgotten.  

Keyamo, who was speaking at an event recently held at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja to honour the retirees, acknowledged the magnitude of their service to Nigeria and expressed that no reward could fully match the value of their contributions.  

Addressing the eight retired directors who had served meritoriously in the Federal Civil Service, Keyamo reiterated that their expertise might still be called upon if needed and encouraged them to remain active in ways that benefit their health.  

The minister also thanked the families of the retired directors for their support throughout the years of service.  

The permanent secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Emmanuel Meribole expressed gratitude to the Minister for approving the recognition event for these senior citizens, who have served the country in various capacities. He advised the retirees to make meaningful contributions in their communities and emphasised the importance of prioritising their health and engaging in regular exercise.  

Speaking on behalf of the retirees, Mr. Yusuf Addy thanked the minister and permanent secretary for the honour, assuring them that it would not be taken for granted. He appealed to the permanent secretary to ensure the timely issuance of retirement certificates by the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation.  

The director of human resources management, Mr. Mohammed Shehu described retirement as an ongoing process and advised current employees to begin preparing for their future transition from civil service.  

Shehu encouraged the retirees to stay focused and active, affirming that many opportunities remain to explore even after retirement.
